FIBA suspended Roderick Blakeney

American guard with Bulgarian passport Roderick Blakeney will be punished for one year to play in European club tournaments. Reason for the punishment is his refusal to appear on the national team camp in Bulgaria in July, reported by BFBasketbol.
Blackney that game in extra qualifications in 2007 for national team, an invitation to join this summer, but declined on personal grounds. Following BFBasketbol referring to the provisions of FIBA Europe, asked the player to be imposed sanction. Today BFBasketbol office had received a letter, which FIBA Europe informed that an American with Bulgarian passport Roderick Blakeney, player of Turkish Türk Telekom is punished.
“After examining the correspondence supplied from BFBasketbol, FIBA Europe decided on the basis a.102.1 suspend the rights of Roderick Blakeney immediately as he is not entitled to play in European club tournaments in the territory and jurisdiction of FIBA Europe for the 2008/2009 season” , Says the letter.
Penalty can be abolished only “if Türk Telekom and Roderick Blekni reach an agreement with FIBA Europe BFBasketbol and received written confirmation of this from Bulgaria, says in the document.
